RV Daily: Tow Bars and Fall Travel

October 11 RV news: Roadmaster tow-bar checks, Nebraska dealer rules, Truma training, Olympic access, Rainier smoke and a Texas show.

The RV Dummies editorial team · Published

Before you pull out today, give the equipment connecting your motorhome and towed vehicle some attention. This Sunday’s roundup starts with Roadmaster’s recall instructions, then looks at changes behind the service counter and the practical details that can change an October trip.

We’ve also checked two Washington national parks and a Texas RV show reaching its final day. The useful question is different in each case: whether your equipment needs action, who can service it, which road reaches your destination, or how much time remains to visit. These are conditions and announcements checked October 11, 2026; travel-day alerts and organizer updates still deserve a fresh look before you set out.

Three steps advise identifying the Roadmaster tow-bar assembly, following the manufacturer’s inspection, and contacting Roadmaster about concerns.

Roadmaster owners: check before the next tow

Roadmaster recall 26E069 covers certain motorhome-mounted tow bars with roll-pin holes in the T-bolt assembly. Check the manufacturer’s illustrated notice before towing again; model names alone cannot identify affected equipment.

Assemblies with one or two roll-pin holes require action; those without holes are excluded. A missing, damaged or displaced pin can let the connection separate. If the pin is not fully seated, including more than 1/16 inch above its hole, stop towing and contact Roadmaster.

The notice permits continued use only with a fully seated pin and no stinger-assembly play, checked before each travel day. Contact Roadmaster for the remedy even after a satisfactory inspection. Parts and shipping are free. If anything is unclear, get the company’s guidance before towing.

Nebraska’s RV dealer rules have a new framework

Nebraska’s Recreational Vehicle Industry Regulation Act reached its October 1 operative date, a change highlighted by RVIA on October 8. This is a manufacturer-dealer relationship story with consequences for how RV businesses handle their work. It covers subjects including warranty responsibilities, dealer agreements, termination, transfers and pre-delivery inspections. It should not be read as a promise that every owner’s repair dispute now has the same answer.

The enacted legislation is LB972, approved April 14, 2026. Two details in the actual text are worth keeping alongside the industry announcement: the act excludes manufacturer-dealer agreements entered before the relevant operative date, and the section requiring a signed agreement before selling new RVs through a dealer says it applies beginning January 1, 2028. An October effective-date headline does not erase those qualifications.

For shoppers, the practical move is to ask the selling dealer who handles the RV manufacturer’s warranty and who handles separately warranted components. Save those answers with the purchase and service paperwork. For an owner already waiting on a repair, keep the diagnosis, authorization and parts status together when following up. The new framework is useful industry context, but a particular claim still depends on the applicable agreement, warranty and facts.

Three Truma training sessions remain at RVTI

Technicians working with Truma equipment have three remaining two-day sessions on RVTI’s published 2026 calendar: October 20–21, November 17–18 and December 15–16. They take place at the RV Technical Institute, 3333 Middlebury Street in Elkhart, Indiana. RV News highlighted the remaining dates October 9; the institute’s underlying annual schedule was published February 10, so this is a timely reminder of planned classes rather than a newly created program.

The institute says the complimentary courses cover Truma heating, combined heating and water systems, hydronic heating, on-demand water heating and cooling. Each provides 16 continuing-education credits and satisfies Truma’s training requirements. There is no general prerequisite to attend, but counting the hours toward RVTI’s Level 3 Appliance Specialty requires existing Level 1 and Level 2 certifications.

Owners do not need to become technicians to make use of this distinction. When arranging service, name the appliance and model rather than asking only whether a shop works on RVs. Ask about product-specific training and the diagnostic appointment available for that equipment. A scheduled training class is encouraging, but it does not establish that a particular shop has attended or can take your rig immediately.

Olympic: separate the campsite from the outing

Olympic’s conditions page, updated October 10, lists Mora Campground open while road construction blocks access beyond it through October 15. Rialto Beach cannot be reached by Mora Road during the work. A scheduled end date is not a confirmed reopening.

Fairholme, Log Cabin’s RV campground and South Beach are listed closed. Sol Duc’s RV park and campground is open, with reservations offered through November 1; that does not guarantee an available site.

Separate your overnight base from the day’s outing. Check each road, the attraction you want to reach and the facilities you will need. For example, booking a campsite does not resolve whether you can drive to a nearby beach. Save an alternative outing before departure so a closure does not leave you improvising with your full rig.

Three planning checks distinguish campground access, attraction access and available services at Olympic National Park.

Rainier’s cooler forecast does not end the fires

Mount Rainier’s October 8 fire update, on a page updated October 9, says the Wonderland Complex remains active in the park’s northern area. Garda Falls is producing substantial smoke from heavy ground fuels. The park expects cooler weather to moderate activity, but explicitly says that will not put the fires out. Grand Park 2 is reported fully contained while still burning; containment is not the same as extinguishment.

Sunrise Road remains closed to public vehicles. The fire information page also identifies closures on portions of the Wonderland and Northern Loop trails and other northern areas. This is not a blanket closure of Mount Rainier, and an older reopening note for a campground is not proof of its current seasonal operation. Check the park’s road, campground and trail pages for the exact places on your itinerary.

The park’s air-quality advice is to monitor smoke and adjust outdoor plans to conditions and the people traveling with you. Give yourself another activity or destination if the outing you planned is smoky or closed. A photograph from an earlier clear day is a poor substitute for the current forecast and access notices.

Round Rock’s RV show reaches its final day

The Central Texas RV Super Sale is scheduled to finish today, Sunday, October 11, at Dell Diamond in Round Rock. The organizer lists Sunday hours as 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time, following the October 9–11 run. Use the ballpark address, 3400 East Palm Valley Boulevard, rather than assuming the event is at Austin’s convention center.

Published admission is $8 for adults and $6 for seniors 60 and older, children ages 7–12, first responders and military attendees; children under 7 are free. Parking is free. The event is cashless, with card or mobile payment accepted. The organizer says the inventory is new 2026 models, not used RVs, so this is a different shopping stop from a mixed new-and-used show.

Go in with a short comparison list. Look at whether you can reach the bathroom and refrigerator in travel mode, where everyday gear would fit, and what the actual unit’s weight labels say. Ask for the full written price and included equipment before comparing offers. A year-end-clearance description is the organizer’s sales positioning, not independent evidence that any particular unit is the best deal available.
