Rainy-day choice board

  • Build a postcard: draw one memorable sight and add three words that describe it.
  • Campground story relay: one person starts a sentence; each person adds the next.
  • Small-space scavenger hunt: find a soft texture, a triangle, something reusable and a favorite color. Leave safety equipment alone.
  • Tabletop travel map: draw the route you remember, then compare it with a real map together.
  • Quiet bin reset: choose one book, one puzzle and one drawing activity; put each away before changing.

At a safe, parked stop

With an adult, choose a short observation walk on an open permitted path. Look for three colors, two textures and one sound. Do not collect wildlife, approach animals or enter roads, water or closed areas.

Make the day easier

Set a clear play boundary, agree on cleanup jobs, and keep an indoor option ready. Choose materials suitable for the participants; small parts and sharp tools need appropriate adult supervision. Travel activities are for passengers safely restrained, never for the driver.
